About Rudy

A little about me

I love time with my books, listening to music and dancing. I enjoy my own company. My preferences have changed over the years, and I like getting to know what brings me peace and what I enjoy now.

For a long time, I put everyone else first. My work in self-love and personal coaching is connected to what I've lived and what I'm still learning about giving my own feelings and wishes a place in my life.

Every Saturday and Sunday

I'll never forget how frightened I felt when I decided to take a course that meant being away all weekend, every weekend. My husband worked abroad. I kept thinking about what would happen when he came home and I wasn't there.

I had made myself believe that I had to be available whenever he returned. I was already imagining what he would say.

When I went ahead, he didn't stop me. He was proud of me. He came to my graduation.

That experience helped me see how much a scene in my own mind could shape a decision. It also stays with me when I listen to someone else's fear. Sometimes we're imagining a response, and sometimes something has happened that gives us reason to be afraid. I want to understand the person's actual situation.

I still have those moments.

I still catch myself judging myself. Then I try to notice it: this is how I know how to do things right now. If there is something I want to change, I can work on it without making myself guilty for being where I am.

There are easier days and harder days. What has changed is how I understand those moments and move through them. I'm still learning about myself, too.

The sea used to frighten me.

Now I love it. I remember being in Angola with my husband, with the desert behind us and the sea in front of us. I hadn't realized how much I would enjoy the sound of the waves at night, or how relaxed I would feel listening to them.

With all my love for my husband, my children and my family, I dream of experiencing that place alone, too. I can love being with them and enjoy time with myself.

When I look at the sea and sky, I can become so absorbed in the scene that it moves me to tears. I feel the greatness of the Creator. That feeling of connection, of oneness, is part of what spirituality means to me.
